The advent of the advanced intelligent tape (AIT) storage system revolutionized the industry. Now up to 400gb native, great advances have been made in the AIT industry enabling much larger storage on a compact tape. AIT drives are backward compatible and have a variety of uses. Whether you need internal or external, AIT 1, 2T, 3, 4 or 5, Micro Technologies would happy to be of service to you. For more information on AIT-5 please visit www.AIT-5.com Digital Linear Tape (DLT) has been the most powerful storage method for some time. Recently it has given way to SDLT and Linear Tape Open (LTO) storage. The capacities of DLT drives started at 20gb (uncompressed) and are now up to 160gb or even 360gb compressed. DLT is still a lead in the tape and mass storage industry. Micro Technologies keeps a stock of the majority of DLT drives you might need. View the DLT and LTO Product Lists to find a DLT drive that fits your needs. The DAT tapes were designed for simplicity and reliability for the small business. They are both cost effective and reliable. Developed from the existing DAT tape technology by Sony, DDS became a incredibly popular method of tape storage. Thus DDS and DAT aren't competing but rather complimentary technologies. Now including DDS4 with 20/40gb, and the DAT 72 with up to 72gb, DAT drives have become a relatively cheap storage method. Nevertheless it has low reliability and data transfer rates. Sony recommends Small to medium businesses currently using DDS/DAT switch to AIT-2 Turbo. To make the change easier they are even offering a rebate to anyone with a DDS serial number. Sony and Micro Technologies will help you plan for the future. Tape manufacturer's include Sony, Hewlett-Packard, Seagate, Compaq, DELL and Exabyte. |
